Photographic prints, negatives and slides documenting the Cutler Fossil site (8DA2001).

The collection gathers menus, ephemera, cookbooks and recipes that document events, places, and issues related to food in South Florida.

Topical and biographical folders that were selected from files A-P of the Coral Gables Times Guide photograph morgue. The folders contain black-and-white photographic prints, accompanied by some newspaper clippings and ephemera. The folder headings were created by the newspaper's staff.

While most topics pertain to Coral Gables, other cities and communities are also represented, including Coconut Grove, Kendall, South Miami and South Dade.

Photographic prints with corresponding negatives of one and two-story single and multiple family residential buildings in Dade County. The buildings are for the most part small-scale examples of Mediterranean revival, mission revival, bungalow, and vernacular architectural styles. The largest grouping falls into the mission revival category, with some examples combining mission revival, pueblo, and Moorish detailing. Among the vernacular structures, there are both frame and masonry examples.

The collection consists of scrapbooks, journals, newsletters, photographs, membership applications and other club records.

Also included is a set of mostly color images of events (1971-1980). The images are in their original and dated envelopes with some hand written notes. They were collected by Helen M. Pardee during her tenure as secretary to the Committee of One Hundred.

Papers pertain to Rubin Askew's presidential campaign and the 1982 Orange Bowl Queen contest.. Askew campaign material includes several folders with correspondence, press releases, schedules, speeches, film script, photoprints, photocopies of newspaper clippings, statements and position papers. Contest memorabilia includes a letter, photograph and ephemera. A playbill for Stompin,' a '40s-inspired revue that opened at La Ronde, Fontainbleau Hotel, Miami Beach, on 1982 October 13, is included in the contest folder.

The records document the following statistics for the deceased when known; name, sex, birth and death dates, marital status, parents name, occupation,  final address, cause of death and cemetery where remains were interred.

Newspaper clippings, playbills, correspondence and art show programs document the history of the Coconut Grove Playhouse from its purchase by George Engle in 1955 until 1990. Most of the material covers the ten years of Engle's ownership.

Included in the correspondence is an ALS from Victor Borge and two TLS from Lyndon Johnson, then Democratic Leader for the Senate.

In 1959 in connection with the newly formed Miami Theater Group, Dorothy (Mrs. George) Engle produced Claire Booth Luce's play The Women. As the cast was drawn entirely from local well-known women, it received wide publicity, collected here in a second scrapbook.

Records include the minutes of the association; and newspaper clippings, pamphlets and ephemera pertaining to the events the association organized:  the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, the Coconut Grove Centennial and the Coconut Grove Pioneers Chowder Luncheon.

The bulk of the collection are 5x7 photographic prints. Views are of places, building exteriors, events and people in Miami, Miami Beach, and South Florida. Examples of topics include: clearing mangroves on Miami Beach and construction of the Overseas Highway; Seminole and Miccosukee Indians, mainly at Musa Isle and along the Tamiami Trail; present-day Everglades National Park, Tamiami Trail and environs, present-day Big Cypress National Preserve, and Ft. Jefferson (Dry Tortugas).

Corresponding negatives exist for most of the photographic prints. 5x7 inch negatives include original safety negatives and direct duplicate negatives made from nitrate-based negatives. 4x5 negaives include original safety negatives, direct duplicate negatives made from nitrate-based negatives, and copy negatives made from the 5x7 prints.

Matlack kept several logs, which record number, date photographed, and, for about half the entries, brief subject. The photographer's logs are in several original, post-bound binders.

Correspondence, numerous maps, reports, newspaper clippings, architectural and engineering plans for Miami Beach city projects, press releases and publicity material, photographic prints, traffic surveys for 1933, 1934 and 1940, and other papers pertain to the work of the city manager for Miami Beach and reflect aspects of the city's history. Includes material on the attempt to purchase the Firestone and Warner estates at 44th Street and oceanfront, for a city park; Miami Beach tourism during the war years; the 1944-1945 "bathing suit" ordinance; and a 1945 survey of medical facilities in Dade County.

Newspaper clippings, photographic prints, correspondence, postcards, greeting cards, legal documents and personal memorabilia pertain to Miami Area history and the history of the Huddleston family. The collection is particularly rich in vivid handwritten descriptions and newspaper obituaries of Miami pioneers who died in the 1950s. Also included are newspaper accounts of historic buildings and personalities, as well as the social activities of members of pioneer families, and of the meetings of the Miami Pioneers group.

Scrapbook marked "Finished 1955" in Box 6 has much of the Huddleston family material, including Farmer City, Illinois, newspaper clippings.

The City of Miami photographic records contain negatives, photographic prints, slides, transparencies, and contact prints that document: expositions, festivals, people, places, and sporting events in the City of Miami and environs.

Some important figures and well known personalities documented in the collection are President John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa, Mickey Mantle, Sammy Davis Jr., The Rolling Stones, Santana, and Bill Cosby. Other events include: the Homestead Rodeo Queen, North-South Golf, the one millionth passenger through the Port of Miami, elderly homes, infant care, beauty pageants, and civic amenities such as parks, zoos, and et cetera. The collection also documents the construction, opening, renovation, and development of the industries and civic amenities in the city of Miami.

The Church Ephemera Collection gathers ephemera and news clippings that document events, places, people and issues related to churches in South Florida and the Caribbean. Files include  brochures, pamphlets, newspaper clippings and related materials.
