The Arthur Chapman Collection consists of cruise ship and hot rod memorabilia; the personal papers and writings of Mr. Chapman; items pertaining to the Chapman, Vihlen and Goodson families; and a variety of material documenting the Port of Miami’s history and operations.

A substantial portion of the material documents the cruise shipping industry in Miami. Papers specifically related to the work of Carmen J. Lunetta, as Port Director are also included.

The collection comprises diverse media including printed material, manuscripts, newspaper clippings, posters, photographs, and audio and video recordings.

Photocopies of legal and historical materials, typescripts, minutes, reports and notes relate either to Arva Moore Parks' research or to her work on various community boards. Includes considerable material on the deliberations that preceded the restoration of the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. Material on the Bi-Tri Racial Advisory Committee dates from 1977-1988; that of the New World Advisory Committee, from 1977 to 1982.

The 2016 accural contains copies of documents, newspaper articles and ephemera pertaining to the City of Miami Police, aviation and the Port of Miami.

Includes two early airplane patents; material on Dade County airports; correspondence of Brigadier General Earl Hoag, commanding officer at Chapman Field; a 1963 Florida aviation directory; a letter from Glenn Curtiss, and information on Amelia Earhart, Grover Loening and Basil Rowe. Pan Am material includes issues from several company periodicals, a 1931 Operations Manual, and a biography of Pan Am's founder, Juan T. Trippe.

Photographs by Barbara G. Schindler of people and places in Miami-Dade County. The bulk of the images are of Miami's ethnic neighborhoods, including Little Haiti, Little Havana and the Jewish enclave on South Beach. Views show advertising signs, exteriors and interiors of houses and hotels, lawn ornaments, objects associated with Santeria and Voudou, store fronts, street scenes and restaurants. Other views show the Coconut Grove Cemetery, farm laborers in South Dade, and personalities including Eli Weisel, Senator Bob Graham and Janet Reno.

Photographs and negatives of prominent horse owners and breeders, socialities and other personalities at events at Hialeah Park and other venues around Miami and Miami Beach during the winter social season.

The collection consists of 8x10 photographs, 110 mm negatives with corresponding contact prints and detailed captions on the envelopes and 4 x5 negatives. Most were shot in black and white, but there are a few color 110 mm negatives.

Views include; owners and guests at awards presentation ceremonies and black tie events at Hialeah Park and the Jockey, Palm Bay and Cricket clubs in Miami. Others show the horse racing fraternity at the track with trainers and horses.

Prominent owners, breeders and race track owners include: John Brunetti, John Wilmer Galbreath, Joseph Widener, Arthur Boyd Hancock II, Eugene Mori, John Brunetti, Samuel Riddick and Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney.

Jockeys include: Ronald Turcotte, Angel Cordero and Steve Cauthen. Trainers include Angel A. Penna, Sr. and Horatio Alger Luro.

The 2016 accural holds 4x5 negatives, contact prints and 8 x10 prints of events at Hialeah Park Race Track.

Includes photocopies of materials from primary sources and published works to support research on the lives and activites of William and Mary Brickell in Ohio, Australia and the Miami and Fort Lauderdale areas. Correspondence includes letters from historian Thelma Peters to Carter Brickell, newspaper clippings and copies of maps showing the Brickell land holdings.

Original materials which are mostly letters and newspaper clippings date from 1985 and photocopied materials from circa 1850.

Papers  pertain to Beverly Phillips' political career and her election campaigns for County Commissioner. Includes expenditures, correspondence, campaign literature, appointment books, newspaper clippings and photographic prints.  Other material includes court transcripts, honors, newspaper clippings,  and a cassette of Phillip’s interview with Beth McNeer for the “Woman of Impact” series. In addition, there is some information regarding her colleagues, such as County Commissioner Barry Schreiber and County Manager Sergio Pereira.

Five scrapbooks from her tenure in office contain mostly newspaper clippings regarding Miami-Dade political issues, such as public transportation, zoning and the Dolphin’s Joe Robbie Stadium. Some of the clippings are from Spanish language newspapers.
