Abstract
Drawings of the Plymouth Congregational Church, designed by Clinton MacKenzie and built in Coconut Grove (Fla.)
Administrative/Biographical History
Clinton Mackenzie was a nationally-renowned church architect based in New York. McKenzie’s other Miami-Dade County commissions included buildings at Buena Vista and Cutler for Charles Deering.
"The church is an outstanding example of Spanish Mission style architecture and is particularly noteworthy for the excellence of its design, details, materials, and craftsmanship. The building’s twin bell towers, curvilinear gable roof, and elaborate front entrance are important elements of the entire composition. Also noteworthy is the building’s stonework, laid by a single stonemason, a Spaniard named Felix Rebom." – City of Miami Planning Department. Plymouth Congregation Church designation report prepared by Sara Eaton, 1982.
The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
