Administrative/Biographical History
The Rotary Club of Miami received its Charter on March 1, 1917, 12 years after the organization of the first Rotary Club in Chicago. The Club is Miami-Dade County's oldest and largest service organization and is noted for its contribution to the welfare and education of the community and its weekly luncheons which bring together community leaders for fellowship and learning. Established just 21 years after the City of Miami's' incorporation in 1896, it was inevitable that the Rotary Club would influence and help guide the economic and social infrastructure of the young city as many of the founding members were among the leading business, professional and civic leaders of the city.
